What is a Skills Bootcamp? 

A Skills Bootcamp is a free, government-funded training programme designed to help you gain in-demand skills for better employment opportunities within your local area. Barfection, in partnership with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, is proud to deliver the Hospitality Horizons (Leadership) Skills Bootcamp—a programme crafted specifically for aspiring or newly appointed hospitality supervisors.

About the Hospitality Horizons Skills Bootcamp.

This Level 3 programme is perfect for anyone ready to take the next step in their hospitality career. Whether you’re currently working in hospitality and want to move into a leadership role, or you're returning to the sector with fresh ambition, this bootcamp provides the practical and leadership-focused training you need.
You’ll gain key knowledge and experience across:

  • Leading and motivating a team
  • Supervising day-to-day operations
  • Delivering excellent customer service
  • Building inclusive and resilient workplace cultures
  • Effective recruitment and onboarding practices

This blend of accredited and employer-informed modules ensures you're job-ready and confident to lead in the fast-paced hospitality industry.

Course Highlights
  • Level: 3 (City & Guilds accredited)
  • Duration: 16 weeks (part-time)
  • Schedule: 2 days per week (daytime sessions)
  • ​Location: In-person delivery at our Liverpool City Centre training hub
  • Total Learning Hours: 117 (78 hours tutor-led)
  • ​Cost: Fully funded for eligible learners (no cost if unemployed; employer contribution may apply if employed)

Who is it for?

This Skills Bootcamp is designed for individuals aged 19+, who are:
  • Working in hospitality and looking to progress into a team leader or supervisor role
  • Returning to the hospitality industry after time away
  • Unemployed and looking to re-enter the sector with new skills

No formal qualifications are needed—but a positive mindset, basic English (Level 2), and a willingness to grow are essential!

What You’ll Learn

You’ll complete both accredited modules (City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles) and non-accredited training shaped by top local employers. Topics include:

Accredited Units:
  • Principles of Leading a Team
  • Supervision of Hospitality Operations
  • Supervising Customer Service Performance

Employer-Informed Modules:
  • Inclusive Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Inclusive Leadership (in partnership with Be Inclusive Hospitality)
  • Building Resilient Teams (developed with Ways to Wow)

The goal is simple: to help you progress into a new or improved job role.
  • If you're unemployed, you’ll be guaranteed an interview with one of our hiring partners.
  • If you're employed, we’ll work with your employer to support your development and career progression.

Read Lucas' Story

Lucas Bannon is a successful learner who progressed through our skills bootcamp. He was already working in a leadership role, but his employer wanted to support Lucas to further develop his leadership skill set and for him to be able to take advantage of the modules within the course.
Duke Street Market is a huge presence in Liverpool city centre, and one we have worked closely with several times now.
